I’m currently uploading new versions of nearly all pages at LessonIndex.com. This is the first major update since February.
I’ve added many links to new resources, and I’ve also removed several hundred “stale links” to resources that have simply disappeared (mostly lesson plans which have vanished from school and college web sites).
The most visible change: I removed the Amazon “skyscraper banner ad,” which visitors rarely clicked.
For audio books, the terms “abridged” and “unabridged” aren’t adequate, because some publishers offer “unabridged audio” for a rewritten version of a work.

Of the teachers who visit this web site, more than 25% are outside North America. Most of these teachers won’t buy print or CD-ROM products from US merchants, because of shipping costs, customs paperwork, and delivery delays — but they will often purchase PDF or other digital-download versions.

Today I imported about 1,225 teaching-resource links from BrightHub, and another 1,240 teaching-resource links from Beacon Learning Center.

I’ve added the FaceBook “Like” button to all LessonIndex.com directory pages (but not this blog). On individual book-title pages, the Like button appears just below the Amazon ad in the right margin.
I’ve also shortened several thousand product descriptions (shown if you pause your mouse over a product title), and added pricing and some other details for a few dozen products.
This weekend, I am re-generating the entire LessonIndex.com web site, to display several additional pieces of information (when known), for each teaching resource:
- contributor names and roles (author, editor, illustrator, translator),
- the grade level for each work, and
- the length (in pages, or number of days or weeks for lesson plans).
